Beautiful Home Aviaries
Aviary #1 - earth floor, black powdercoat
This is a 3.6m aviary, designed with a peak at one end for unobstructed viewing
from the house. It has just 30% enclosed for shelter and 70% mesh for sunlight
and a feeling of openness. The mesh is black powdercoated aluminium, which is
lightweight, rust-proof and unobtrusive to the eye.
The floor is natural clay earth, raised slightly above the surrounding ground
for drainage. It's topped with a layer of leaves to keep it even drier under
foot and to make cleaning easy - just remove and replace. Vermin mesh has been laid under the entire
aviary to prevent rats or mice from digging and setting up home.
This aviary was very challenging to install but the end result is lovely and very natural.
In the videos you can see Zebras, Lady Gouldian Finches, Cordon Bleu Finches and
Long-tailed Grassfinches.
